The Butler Did It Slippers
A note from the butler
Bringing Raffles’ old-world glamour and a touch of nostalgia to your downtime, the Butler Did It classic opera slippers are crafted in northern Italy from Raffles green cotton velvet, with a playful message embroidered in gold silk across the toe with a theatrical flourish. Designed to be worn by men or women, and finished with grosgrain trim and a smooth rubber sole, these slippers exude cocktail-hour, smoking-jacket elegance, yet are relaxed enough to wear with pyjamas for a candlelit night in – even if you don’t happen to have a butler to lay them out for you.

How Do You Sleep?
Once an interior design professional who paid little attention to rest, Rory MacPherson was prompted by an epilepsy diagnosis to begin a new professional journey, to identify what aids genuinely restorative sleep. He found that considerations for meaningfully improving sleep need to go beyond our bedtime environment, to the way we spend each day. As a ‘sleep studio’, today Z Lab designs sleep masks, earplugs, scents and blue-light-filtering glasses, made with carefully sourced, quality materials that are sustainable where possible. This considered, holistic approach to the many elements that contribute to quality rest and wellbeing has made Z Lab a natural partner for Raffles, resulting in a bespoke sleep mask thoughtfully designed with Raffles guests in mind.
How did you sleep last night?
Honestly? Not particularly well! I was in China for nine nights and flew back to my home in Cape Town. I tried not to sleep in the daytime, and I managed to stay awake until about 8.30pm… but I woke up at about 3.30am. So I didn't sleep brilliantly, but it was an unusual night. Sleep is important to me from a health perspective, so I take that into account when I plan routes and try to make the night flight as long as possible.
About this collection
A new suitcase collaboration between Globe-Trotter and Raffles has a rich history of travel behind it
There was a time when every journey began with ceremony. Steamships departed for distant ports, elegantly furnished Pullman trains crossed continents, and polished trunks stacked high in hotel lobbies promised adventures yet to unfold.
This was the dawn of luxury travel, a golden age of Belle Epoque exploration that still casts a spell on today’s sophisticated travellers. At the epicentre of it all was Raffles, which welcomed its first guests in Singapore in 1887, setting new standards of comfort and elegance with lavish suites, cutting-edge facilities and, of course, its iconic butler service. Just a decade later, Globe-Trotter, the legendary British luggage brand, began crafting handsome travel trunks and cases for those intrepid men and women setting out to explore the world.
